Neil Young Helps Celebrate Final Year of Wachovia Spectrum Dec 12

Live Nation presents a “Remember the Spectrum Concert Event” featuring legendary performer Neil Young at the Wachovia Spectrum on Friday, December 12 at 7 p.m. The memorable event will also feature Grammy Award winning Wilco in addition to special guest Everest.

Young adds to the extensive music history at the legendary arena, which includes seven previous Spectrum shows: June 10, 1970 (with Crosby, Still, and Nash); January 26-27, 1973; June 29, 1976 (with Stills); September 23, 1978; August 29, 1983; and September 17, 1986.

Comcast-Spectacor is closing the 42-year-old Wachovia Spectrum at the conclusion of the 2008-09 Philadelphia Phantoms and Philadelphia Kixx hockey and soccer seasons. The company is encouraging residents throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region to celebrate the many wonderful memories of the Spectrum.

Live Nation and its predecessor, Electric Factory Concerts, has a long and storied history in the Spectrum, including producing the arena's very first event, the two-day Quaker City Jazz Festival (September 30-October 1, 1967).

“We are committed to making this a year-long musical celebration of the many great concerts that have graced the Spectrum stage and made Philadelphia the wonderful music town it is,” said Live Nation’s Larry Magid. “Neil Young is our first in a long series of shows we will bring to the Spectrum this year.”
