Comcast-Spectacor, through its facility management subsidiary, Global Spectrum, is committed to raising awareness and taking action to make its facilities throughout North America more environmentally friendly with a company-wide, comprehensive campaign called “Step Up.”

At every Global Spectrum-managed facility, the company is dedicated to reducing its environmental impact by saving energy, reducing, reusing, and recycling.

In Philadelphia, PA, the Wachovia Center, the 21,000-seat home of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, is a registered member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Here are a few examples of how Global Spectrum is making an impact in Philadelphia:

• The Wachovia Complex now features single-stream recycling bins in both facilities, which collect all recyclables into one container, including glass and plastic bottles, tin and aluminum cans, paper and cardboard, and other recyclable materials.
• The company participates in an energy sell-back program to re-route unused power back to its utility grid system.
• The Wachovia Center utilizes a Thermal Ice Cooling Room.
• The company plans to implement various initiatives, including the use of environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies and concession products.
